Support that meets you where you are. Neurodiversity affirming support grounded in lived experience, practical skill, and genuine connection.

Meet Matthew
Hi, I’m Mat.
I’m a neurodivergent disability support worker based in Sydney's Inner West, offering grounded, practical, and neurodiversity affirming support.
Being neurodivergent myself, and having many neurodivergent people in my family and close circle, means I understand first hand how exhausting it can be to navigate a world built around neurotypical expectations.
My approach is shaped by lived experience, not checklists or compliance-based models.
Before working as a support worker, I spent over 20 years as a professional chef across restaurants throughout Australia. That background has given me strong organisational skills, the ability to stay calm under pressure, and a deep understanding of how routines, systems, and environments can either support or overwhelm someone.
Neurodiversity-affirming disability support work in Inner West Sydney
Alongside cheffing, I’ve picked up a wide range of practical skills over the years, including gardening, basic repairs, painting, and general home maintenance. I’m friendly, honest, down to earth, and genuinely enjoy getting to know people as they are.
Outside of work, I love walking and hiking around Sydney, swimming at the beach, live music, photography, films, learning languages, and spending time in my garden. I bring that same curiosity and appreciation for difference into my work with clients.
Services
I provide a wide range of NDIS-aligned disability support, tailored to the individual rather than a one-size-fits-all model.
Everyday Living
& In Home Support
Practical, hands-on support at home to make day-to-day life more manageable. This can include meal planning, grocery shopping, food preparation and cooking, gardening, light household tasks, and support with routines and daily activities.
Meals, Food
& Practical Support
With over 20 years of experience as a professional chef, I offer grounded and realistic support around food. This might include planning meals that suit sensory preferences, shopping together, cooking at home, or building confidence and skills in the kitchen at a comfortable pace.
Community Access
& Day to Day Support
Support to access the community in ways that feel safe and achievable. This can include attending appointments, going for walks, accessing local services, or engaging in activities that support wellbeing and connection.

My approach
My approach is neurodiversity affirming and shaped by lived experience.
I recognise that communication looks different for everyone. This might include speaking, typing, writing, gestures, shared activities, silence, or simply being alongside someone. I don’t assume communication needs to look a certain way to be valid.
I place a strong emphasis on predictability and consistency. I don’t expect people to constantly adapt or push past their limits to fit systems that weren’t built for them. Instead, I adapt my support to the person, including their energy, sensory needs, routines, and preferences.
With many years of life and work experience behind me, I bring a calm and steady presence to support work. I’m comfortable taking things slowly when needed and offering practical, grounded support without judgement or pressure.
I aim to be someone who is reliable and genuinely alongside you, supporting in ways that make everyday life more manageable.
